Abstract

Cilj tega diplomskega dela je proučiti obseg in kakovost nadaljnjega izobraževanja in usposabljanja učiteljev kemije v programih nadaljnjega izobraževanja in usposabljanja.

Secondary title: CHEMISTRY TEACHER IN-SERVICE TRAINING
Secondary abstract: In-service teacher training represents one of many different forms of life-long learning, which enable teachers to renew and expand their knowledge. It also enables teachers to acquire new ideas and practices in their profession. The primary aim of in-service teacher training is professional development and personal development. The main purpose of our graduation thesis is to examine/research the scope and quality of in-service teacher training for chemistry teachers. In that framework, we put our focus on researching: (1) the extent of participation of chemistry teachers in in-service teacher training programs; (2) the impact of in-service teacher training program on professional development of chemistry teachers; and (3) what is the contribution of in-service teacher training programs in acquiring and/or improvement of single competencies, which chemistry teachers need for successful work. In theoretical part, the main focus is on cognitions about education and training of teachers, in-service teacher training, competencies and professional development. For the purpose of our work, we conducted a survey among chemistry teachers. Based on the results of empirical testing of obtained data, the main cognition is that chemistry teachers (in our sample) want more in-service teaching training programs related to experimental work and usage of information and communication technology in schools.
