Abstract

Secondary title: ANALYSIS OF BIOLOGY TEXTBOOKS FOR THE NINTH GRADE OF PRIMARY SCHOOL
Secondary abstract: We are in a time when the acquisition of knowledge can be done by a number of literature and other information sources, which were and are still being developed by the modern information technology. However, we have to be careful to choose quality literature. The same applies to learning materials, with which schools, pupils and teachers come in contact with. Today's market offers different textbook sets for individual subject domains, but the quantity is not necessarily followed by their quality. For this purpose we have selected some books for which we wanted to determine whether they comply with the standards given by the Education Office of the Republic of Slovenia. We analyzed them according to their external and internal structure and found that the individual elements of the external structure are well designed and meet the prescribed norms, while the quality of the internal structure lindens. According by the results obtained, which indicate that textbooks do not meet recommended standards to an equal level, one will have to focus more attention when choosing quality learning materials. Choosing the right textbook or a textbook set is a matter of each teacher's choice, but it is important that his/her decision about different textbook sets is based on the fact that they will assist him/her when implementing the requirements in accordance with the stated objectives and standards of knowledge.
