Abstract

Metode: Pregledali smo znanstveno literaturo s področja prvega pristopa k samomorilni osebi v angleškem in slovenskem jeziku. Uporabili smo deskriptivno metodo dela z metodo analize, kompilacije, komparacije in sinteze. Članke smo iskali v naslednjih podatkovnih bazah: PubMed, CINAHL in ScienceDirect. Zbrane podatke smo analizirali in sintetizirali.

Secondary title: The first response to a suicidal person
Secondary abstract: Introduction: More than 700,000 people worldwide die by suicide each year. We define suicide as the intentional termination of one's own life. An empathetic approach, good recognition of risk factors and warning signs of suicidal behaviour is crucial in preventing just that. The final work aims to investigate rescuers' interventions in the first approach to a suicidal person. Methods: We reviewed the scientific literature on the first approach to a suicidal person in English and Slovenian. We used the descriptive method of work with analysis, compilation, comparison and synthesis. Articles were searched in the following databases: PubMed, CINAHL and ScienceDirect. We synthesized and analyzed the collected data using thematic analysis. Results: out of a total of 812 collected articles, we included 7 articles in the research. With the help of identified sources, we found that the approach to a suicidal person must be calm, understanding, professional, individual, focused on the individual as well as his family and loved ones. Discussion and conclusion: many times rescuers feel helpless and think they need more training for such situations. The rescuer must remain calm with the suicidal person, letting them know that he is here for them. Interventions involve not only the victim but also their relatives. At the end of the treatment, they are escorted to the appropriate medical facility or emergency psychiatric department.
