Abstract

Secondary title: Safety against crime in the design of new buildings
Secondary abstract: One of the important factors that contribute to a sense of health and well-being is experiencing a sense of security, especially security in residential areas. Perceptions of safety can be influenced by environmental and design components, including poor lighting, presence of graffiti, absence of safety devices, seating or recreation areas. It also depends on various factors such as age and gender, social status, economic status, personal characteristics, health and political views of members in the community. Marketing the city and promoting amenities for city living has become an important aspect of urban regeneration and within this scenario security emerges as a key concern. Since the security goal is important, the principles in the field of crime prevention, where the design of the environment plays a major role, have also started to be implemented. With the continuous progress of urbanization, research has consistently emphasized that crime is a key issue for society and that safety is a prerequisite for a quality and sustainable environment. Crime prevention through environmental design is considered a proactive approach in terms of strategy, as it is a process that ensures crime prevention through the initial stages of planning in an attempt to eliminate the potential for crime to occur. We will focus on the prevention of crime in new buildings, as it is extremely important that people feel safe in the spaces where they move and spend most of their free time. This is especially true for people who live in larger cities where this type of property crime is more common, because people in neighborhoods are less connected and consequently do not exercise social control, which, in addition to security devices and access control, is a very important factor in preventing crimes under which we count burglary, theft, robbery and damage to other people's property.
