Abstract

Secondary title: SOME ASPECTS OF CREATION THE EUROPEAN CITIZENSHIP
Secondary abstract: Citizenship has changed through history and it is still exposed to changes. The European citizenship came into existence as a result of European integration with numerous contracts and legal articles, which include regulations valid for all members of integration. The European citizenship is a result of spreading the European Union in the territory of Europe. The number of EU Member States is growing, as well as the number of European citizens. A question is raised, if all citizens of EU Member States realize that they are actually European citizens. According to surveys, the importance of national identity is still greater than European identity. Forming the European citizenship is a lifelong process for all age groups of population. Educational institutions are playing an important role in forming the European citizenship. They help pupils with different goals and contents, so that they are aware of European citizenship. Forming the European citizenship is dependent on teachers and pupils, because the curriculum does not contain enough contents and goals, which would treat this theme. That is why action programs and associations support pupils and others by encouraging the forming of European citizens with various projects and programs. We are not allowed to forget the irreplaceable media, which with appropriate use contribute to the selection of information from all sectors.
