Abstract

V diplomskem delu se ukvarjamo s pregledom praznikov, običajev, šeg in navad v Sloveniji, s katerimi se najpogosteje srečujejo predšolski otroci. Predstavljeni so najpomembnejši prazniki, s kratkim zgodovinskim pregledom in opisovanjem pomena praznikov in navad ob posameznem prazniku.

Secondary title: Perceptions of professionals and parents regarding holidays, customs and habits in children's preschool period
Secondary abstract: In my thesis we deal with Slovenian customs, traditions and habits which preschool children are most often encountered with. The most important holidays and their brief historical overview are presented, as well as the description of their meaning and the customs, associated with each holiday. In the empirical part we analyzed the attitudes and understanding of the topic of holidays among kindergarten professionals and parents. The results showed that professionals know the definition of the word customs, are aware of its importance and believe that passing on customs to preschool children is important. Kindergarten professionals are encountered with this topic several times a month. The research also showed that the professionals think the traditions differ within families. In kindergarten they mostly celebrate holidays of the three good men, the Mother's day and Valentine's day. Parents are also aware of the meaning of holidays and passing on the customs to the preschool children. They also believe that enough emphasis is put on the celebration of the holidays both in kindergarten and at home. Within families, children are encountered with the holidays several times a year, mostly they celebrate holidays such as Christmas, Easter, birthdays and Memorial day. The celebrations of these holidays vary from family to family. Holidays are also an important part of cultural heritage. However, the opinions of professionals and parents differ regarding the age period in which children should be introduced to these contents.
