Abstract

Secondary title: Children's Experience during Covid-19 Epidemic
Secondary abstract: The aim of this master's thesis is to demonstrate the experience of children who were subject to different measures and restrictions imposed by the government with the aim to prevent the spread of the virus among citizens during the Covid-19 epidemic. The theoretical introduction details the course of the epidemic and measures used to contain it, also addressing mental health and well-being, with a focus on the daily routine, as well as the importance of family, peers and friends, and the school environment in the life of children under the state of emergency. I also determine the importance of leisure time in general and in the period when the restrictions were imposed as well as the importance of assistance and support provided to children. The empirical part of the thesis presents experience of ten children having experienced a state of emergency, namely the Covid-19 epidemic. Subjects included in the sample were fourth- to ninth-grade primary school pupils who were subject to measures imposed by the government of the Republic of Slovenia with the aim to prevent the spread of infections with the new coronavirus during the Covid-19 epidemic. During the state of emergency, the key source of assistance to children were their parents and friends, with teachers and counsellors also having an important role.
