Abstract

Adolescents' self-esteem during covid-19 |
Secondary abstract: |
Introduction: Pandemic was declared in spring 2020. Adolescents are one of the most at-risk groups adversely affected by the covid-19 pandemic. Changes were observed in self-esteem, which is an important protective factor against the negative impact of the pandemic. The final aim is to determine the impact of the covid-19 intervention on adolescents' self-esteem.
Method: In the thesis, a systematic review of the scientific literature on adolescents' self-esteem during covid-19 was used. The research data in the final thesis was obtained from the CINAHL, PubMed, and Cochrane Library databases. An analysis and synthesis of the of the included research was carried out using a descriptive method.
Results: Twelve studies were included in the final analysis. During the covid-19 pandemic, prevention measures were found to have a negative impact on self-esteem. The negative effects on adolescents' self-esteem were reflected in higher levels of depression, anxiety, weight gain, dissatisfaction with life and body.
Discussion and conclusion: It is important to recognize the negative psychosocial effects on adolescents and provide appropriate support. Adolescents have experienced many changes during the pandemic, so it is important to provide adolescents with a quality approach to manage any problems they may have, thus reducing the chance of negative effects on physical and mental health. |
