Abstract

Podatki otrok so bili pridobljeni z merjenjem telesne teže in telesne višine.

Secondary title: PREVALENCE OF EXCESS BODY WEIGHT AND OBESITY AMONG PRESCHOOL CHILDREN
Secondary abstract: This diploma work presents a wide spread of overweight and obesity among pre-school children. The theoretical part presents developmental characteristics of children in their first three years of life, the development of their bodies and motorical skills, overweight, obesity, the importance of regular physical activity to keep normal weight, influence of the environment on the develpoment of motorics. The research has been empirically done on a sample of 370 children aged 1 to 6 six years. The data used are the children's height and weight. The results show that more than half of the children suffer from overweight or obesity, that children coming from rural areas are more overweight, and children coming from urban areas have more problems with obesity. It also shows that overweight appears more often in the age group of children who are 3 to 6 years old, and that there are more overweight girls than boys. On the basis of theoretical materials and empirical results we suggest a wider use of healthy food at home and in the kindergartens, a well arranged plan of meals, restriction of sweets treats and much more physical activity.
