Abstract

Secondary title: Differences between physical characteristics and abilities of different types of cyclists
Secondary abstract: The purpose of the thesis is to examine the training process of all competitive categories in road cycling. Each athlete is a story in itself. Therefore, we would like to discover what special features and challenges each category presents for the coach, based on their physical characteristics. We will describe the physical and physiological differences in the categories and compare them with each other and in this way try to determine which training process could be successful for achieving top results in a certain category. At first glance, cycling is not a sport that an athlete can learn and master its demands in terms of different types of competition in a year or two. Cycling requires a multi-year, gradual training process so that a young cyclist can develop into a top-class cyclist and achieve the best results. As a result, the coach who prepares programs for the training process has an extremely difficult task because he must adapt the method of implementation of the training process to the age group in which the cyclist is currently located and take into account all factors that can affect his development of the result. This thesis is intended for cyclists, coaches, workers in cycling, and parents of cyclists.
