Abstract

Rezultati: Izvajalci zunajbolnišnične nujne medicinske pomoči dosegajo visoko stopnjo izgorelosti v dimenziji čustvene izčrpanosti ter zmerno stopnjo izgorelosti v dimenzijah depersonalizacije in osebne izpolnitve.

Secondary title: Burnout and coping mechanisms among pre-hospital emergency medical care providers
Secondary abstract: Introduction: Burnout represents a major cause of poor mental and physical health, which can consequently affect the quality of patient care. Among the groups most susceptible to burnout are emergency medical service providers. They often are subject to time pressure and traumatic situations in their work environment. It is crucial for professional groups more prone to burnout to effectively cope with stress. This master thesis is aimed to determine the prevalence of burnout and the coping strategies used by emergency medical service providers Methods: The study is based on a quantitative research method. A questionnaire consisting of a demographic section, the MBI-HSS questionnaire, and the COPE-brief questionnaire was used. 88 out-of-hospital emergency medical service providers from the Savinjska statistical region participated in the study. Results: Out-of-hospital emergency medical service providers experience a high level of burnout in the dimension of emotional exhaustion and a moderate level of burnout in the dimensions of depersonalization and personal accomplishment. The highest level of burnout is observed among physicians. Problem-focused coping was the most frequently used coping mechanism. No correlation was found between work experience and the level of burnout. Discussion and conclusion: The findings indicate a significant prevalence of burnout among out-of-hospital emergency medical service providers, with physicians exhibiting the highest levels of burnout. Effective coping mechanisms are crucial for managing and reducing burnout.
