Abstract

Secondary abstract: With his study of vocals and accents in his native micro-dialect of the village of Mostec near Brežice in 1961, Jože Toporišič began the gradual implementation of the structural method in post-war Slovene dialectology. Although its primary research focused on the Slovene literary language, his work on this micro-dialect made him involved in all (bigger) dialectology projects; equally valuable is his outline of the history of Slovene dialectology, as well as his initiative for further research into dialects.
