Abstract

Diplomsko delo obravnava problematiko in pomen dojenja v naši družbi. Podana je kratka zgodovina dojenja - tega edinstvenega procesa, ki je nekoč predstavljal vir življenja novorojenčkov, danes pa zgolj možnost pri izbiri med veliko številnimi nadomestki materinega mleka. Diplomsko delo predstavlja institucije, programe, nacionalne spodbude in regulativne ukrepe, ki si v Sloveniji in drugod po svetu prizadevajo za dvig dojenja in njegovo ponovno priznanje, da bi postal prva (in edina) izbira mater.

Secondary abstract: The thesis concentrates on breastfeeding issues and its meaning within our society. Presented is a brief history of breastfeeding - this unique process, once believed to be the source of life for the infants but today is only one of the options within abundant milk substitutes. The thesis presents some institutions, programmes, national initiatives and regulatory measures which aim at breastfeeding promotion in Slovenia as well as throughout the world to become the first (and only) mothers' choice.
