magistrsko delo
Abstract

Experiencing anxiety and pupils' self-esteem in physical education |
Secondary abstract: |
The aim of the study was to investigate the prevalence of anxiety in the subject of physical education (PE) in 4th and 5th grade students and to determine its possible relationship with students' physical self-image. The participants were 104 pupils in 4th and 5th grade in a primary school in Pomurje. The pupils completed a questionnaire consisting of two closed-ended questions and a rating scale containing 14 statements about anxiety in the subject of PE and 14 statements about the pupils' physical self-image. The results of the survey showed that, in general, students do not experience anxiety in PE or experience it to a very low degree. We found that there is a negative correlation between experiencing anxiety in PE and students' physical self-esteem, meaning that the higher the anxiety in PE, the lower the physical self-esteem and vice versa. An important finding of the study for both parents and teachers is that there is a correlation between the amount of leisure-time activity and the level of anxiety in the subject of sport, as we found that those pupils who move more in their leisure time experience lower levels of anxiety than those who move little. |
