diplomsko delo
Abstract
K izdelavi proteze spadajo meritve okončin, odvzem mere krna z mavčnim povojem, izdelava in obdelava modela, izdelava in preizkus proteze ter prevzem. Razprava in zaključek: S protetično oskrbo želimo živalim omogočiti boljšo kakovost življenja, preprečiti kasnejše deformacije sklepov in ohraniti sposobnost izvajanja vsakodnevnih funkcij. Povrnili smo mu štirinožno hojo in hkrati ojačali mišice na amputirani okončini ter izboljšali držo telesa.

Prosthetic care of dog with front limb amputation |
Secondary abstract: |
Introduction: Prosthetic devices replace a missing limb in case of its amputation. The biomechanics of movement change, when one or more limbs are lost. Dogs with an amputated limb develop a different gait, which can lead to injuries to the remaining limbs. Due to technological advancements and surgical procedures, the development of prosthetic devices is possible, which will enable normal functioning of the canine limbs and improve their quality of life. Purpose: The puprpose of this thesis is twofold: to design a functional prosthesis for a dog that has undergone transradial-ulnar amputation of the front right limb and to document the fabrication process while evaluating the prosthesis's functionality. Methods: The thesis is a practical work, which includes the process of creating a prosthesis and testing its functionality. The fabrication process involves measuring limb dimensions, taking a plaster cast of the stump, constructing and refining the model, fabricating and testing the prosthesis, and conducting the final fitting. The prosthesis is made using materials such as plastazote, polyethylene, aluminum tubing, and carbon fiber. During fitting phase, we observed the dog's gait, demonstrated prosthesis usage to the owners, and provided information on potential benefits and risks. On the basis of the questionnaire on satisfaction with the device, we wanted to give your owners' opinion about the prosthesis. The questionnaire consisted of 21 questions, covering basic information, device usage, and overall satisfaction. Results: During the prosthesis fitting, we noticed that the flexible stump and hair caused the prosthesis to slip off easily. To address this, we wrapped the stump with a self-adhesive elastic bandage, ensuring a secure fit. After two months, we made adjustments to accommodate the dog's growth in height and stump size. The results of the satisfaction survey among the owners of the device have shown that they are highly satisfied with its functionality and its appearance. Discussion and conclusion:. Our aim with prosthetic care is to improve animals' quality of life by preventing joint deformities, preserving their ability to perform daily functions, and restoring four-legged movement. This includes strengthening the muscles in the amputated limb and enhancing overall body posture. |
