Abstract

Secondary title: Measurements of NB-IoT performance in a real environment
Secondary abstract: The thesis focuses on performance research and performance analysis of narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) technology in the context of speed measurement in DL and UL directions. NB-IoT is a popular low-power Internet of Things (IoT) communication technology designed for large scale and connectivity of large numbers of devices. In the assignment, we performed an extensive set of measurements to evaluate the performance and reliability of the NB-IoT network in both directions. We studied various key metrics such as transmission speed, latency and packet loss to understand the impact of various factors on network performance. Research results have shown that NB-IoT technology in the DL direction can effectively transmit data to devices with good speed and reliability, but in the UL direction it has some lower speeds that may affect applications that require more data transfer from the device. In the following, I also suggest using a larger sample of data in different measurement scenarios for more reliable and comprehensive results. The research and analysis in this thesis will be an important contribution to further developments in the use of NB-IoT technologies for IoT applications. Based on the findings, we will be able to improve network performance and secure efficient connectivity for all IoT devices in the future.
