Abstract

Žrtve najpogosteje doživljajo psihično nasilje s strani partnerja, v večini so žrtve ženskega spola in povzročitelji moškega. Organizacije nudijo žrtvam pomoč in podporo, same pa sodelujejo v multidisciplinarnem timu.

Secondary title: Assistance to victims of domestic violence in rural areas
Secondary abstract: Domestic violence is a social phenomenon, where one of the family members perpetrates violence against another with the aim of gaining supremacy. In the research and professional literature, the definition is well defined, but no clear boundary is set for when violence occurs. The environment, in which the victim lives, affects the experience of violence, as in rural areas abuse lasts 25% longer than in city centers, where there is a wider range of victim support. The purpose of the diploma thesis is to investigate the experience of violence in rural areas, as well as victim assistance available from governmental and non-governmental organizations. The aim of the diploma thesis is to answer the following three research questions: what are the similarities and differences between domestic violence in rural and urban area, where do victims from rural area mostly seek help and how governmental and non-governmental organizations help victims of domestic violence from rural areas. Traditional thinking about gender roles is nowadays still present in the countryside, which may be a consequence of the older population structure. Victims most often experience psychological violence from their partner, in most cases, the victims are female and the perpetrators are male. Organizations participate in a multidisciplinary team, they offer assistance and support to victims. Victims from rural areas more often seek help from non-governmental organizations, which endeavor to inform the public about the consequences of domestic violence as well as the victim assistance programs. Early intervention is key to reducing domestic abuse; especially if the victim is a child or when children grow up in environments of violence, as the victim's long-term experience of violence can have psychological and health consequences.
