Abstract

Secondary title: Emission Measurement of Corrosive Volatile Organic Compounds from Sealants
Secondary abstract: Emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from various materials can have negative health effects and can also cause faster degradation of cultural heritage objects. Therefore, the reduction of VOCs in the emissions of various products is necessary. In this thesis I qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed the emissions of two commercially available polymer sealants. I qualitatively determined VOCs by sampling according to the principle of HS-SPME and dynamically to Tenax tubes for thermal desorption and an analysis with GC-MS. Since I performed analyzes with different adsorbents, which have different affinity for individual compounds, I got a comprehensive picture of emissions. I also wanted to quantitatively determine the concentrations of acetic and formic acid using adsorption tubes with two different sorbents, but the method still needs to be optimized. At the end I performed a quantitative analysis of emissions from the surface and bulk samples with GC-FID, using adsorption tubes with activated carbon and I determined the content of the corrosive compound 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidinol in emissions of sample Č.
