Abstract

Secondary title: Information security knowledge in automotive industry
Secondary abstract: In recent years, we have witnessed great technological changes in a relatively short time, with the automotive industry also taking part in these changes. Cars have been installed with a huge number of new components that allow them to communicate with the environment. They have become part of the Internet of Things and thus connected to other devices (smartphones, other smart vehicles, etc.), which is where the name smart cars comes from. With this connection, however, they have become exposed to new threats that were previously unknown to them. We are talking about vulnerabilities that until now were typical of devices connected to networks, for example smartphones, computers, servers, etc. Thus, the automotive industry found itself torn between releasing innovative products and ensuring information security, as ensuring information security requires a multi-layered approach. This entails longer production times and additional costs among other thing. Threats to information security also include the human factor, which is considered the weakest link in ensuring security. For this reason, the purpose of the thesis was to find out the state of information security knowledge in the automotive industry. In the theoretical part, a review of the existing literature was carried out, while in the empirical part, interviews were conducted to gain an insight into how Slovenian service companies deal with constant changs in the field of motoring and ensuring information security.
