Abstract

Nasadi tujerodnih drevesnih vrst (TDV) v Sloveniji so bili osnovani že konec 19. stoletja.

Secondary title: Analysis of non-native tree species plantation on Boč
Secondary abstract: Plantations of non-native tree species (TDV) in Slovenia were established at the end of the 19th century. There are 23 TDVs in the TDV plantation in the Boč arboretum. The purpose of the research was to comprehensively analyze the plantation. We analyzed the top layer with a full survey, we carried out a census of tree seedlings and saplings on 12 randomly placed plots in 4 stratums, we photographed the arboretum with a drone for more accurate maps and made an assessment of silvicultural goals and proposed forest measures. We found that the growing stock of the plantation is 290.2 m3/ha and is dominated by TDV (63.6%), although the density of native species is higher (55.9%), which means that TDV trees are on average thicker and higher. The regeneration density of domestic species was 34,375 per ha and the density of TDV 10,000 per ha. Out of all TDV, only large firs, red oaks, American Douglas fir, Caucasian winged nutcracker and Caucasian spruce are regenerating. They are regenerating near and mostly under the canopy of seed trees. In open areas, they are not competitive against native saplings and the lush herbaceous and shrub layer. In the assessment of forestry silvicultural goals, we proposed declaring the plantation as a special purpose forest with a planned measure (GPN), as it has extremely emphasized educational and research functions. In it, adaptive and active management will be necessary if we want to preserve TDV, since their reproductive capacity does not guarantee the renewal of the population which will be necessary due to the worse vitality of some TDV.
