Abstract

Metode: Sistematični pregled literature, pridobljene v elektronskih podatkovnih zbirkah PubMed in Cochrane Library. Rezultati: V pregled smo vključili 18 raziskav, pri čemer jih je 11 proučevalo vpliv vibracij celotnega telesa (VCT), 7 pa učinkovitost lokalne vibracijske terapije (LVT). Avtorji so najpogosteje ugotavljali, da VCT lajšajo zapoznelo bolečino, hitreje zmanjšajo raven krvnih pokazateljev mišičnih poškodb, zmanjšajo občutek mišične zategnjenosti in blažijo začasno izgubo mišične moči.

Secondary title: Effect of vibration therapy on delayed onset muscle soreness
Secondary abstract: Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) is classified as an overexertion muscle injury, which usually presents itself with subacute pain and other limiting symptoms following intense eccentric exercise. The purpose of this study is to systemically review the literature and present the effects of the whole-body vibration (WBV) therapy on DOMS, and determine the efficiency of local vibration therapy in relieving DOMS symptoms. Methods: A systematic review of the literature obtained from PubMed and Cochrane Library electronic databases. Results: Eighteen studies were included in the analysis, 11 of which considered the effects of the whole-body vibration therapy, while 7 studied the efficiency of local vibrations in treating DOMS. Authors most commonly reported reduced pain in patients with DOMS after WBV therapy, as well as lower biomarkers of muscle injury and inflammation, reduced muscle stiffness, and lower temporary loss of muscle strength. Effectiveness is related to the vibration parameters used. Local vibration therapy has shown to be an effective therapeutic method in treating DOMS. Use: Vibration therapy is a statistically effective method in alleviating symptoms of DOMS. Limitations: Several studies do not clearly define the used protocol of vibration therapy. Most studies include small sample sizes, and the methodological quality of some studies is low.
