Abstract

Nadalje bomo predstavili glasbo v povezavi z avtizmom in bomo podrobneje opisali možnosti razvijanja socialnega razvoja skozi glasbo ter izvedbo glasbene umetnosti v osnovni šoli s prilagojenim programom (OŠPP).

Secondary title: Music activities as a method for enhancing social development in students with autism spectrum disorder
Secondary abstract: The master's thesis entitled Musical activities as a method of promoting social development in students with autism spectrum disorder consists of a theoretical and an empirical part. In the theoretical part, the characteristics of children with ASD, their social deficits and their inclusion in education are presented. Furthermore, it is described in detail how music is connected with autism and about the possibilities of social development through music and music as a subject in special schools. This is followed by a presentation of musical activities and the roles and competencies of teachers in teaching music. The empirical part of the master's thesis includes the results of research on teachers' perception of the role of musical activities in class, their knowledge of such activities, and their potential of influencing the social development of students with ASD. We have examined the frequency of teachers' use of musical activities in class and their opinion on the usefulness of such activities for children with ASD. The aim was also to find out the teachers' self-perception of their competence for teaching music in special schools. The results showed that most teachers recognize the positive effects of musical activities on the social development of students with ASD. There were no statistically significant differences in the frequency of use of musical activities in music class according to the age of the respondents but the results showed that younger teachers agree more with the statement that children with ASD can use music to coordinate and control their social interactions and that music can support connectedness with the group for children with ASD. It was found that there is a correlation between the self-assessment of the respondents' competence in the music field and the frequency of use of musical activities, but only between certain pairs of variables. The data show that the higher the competence of the respondents in the music field, the more they agree that music has a positive effect on the aforementioned social aspects for pupils with ASD.
