magistrsko delo
Abstract

Psychometric Properties of the Work-related Maladaptive Thinking Patterns Questionnaire in the Clinical Population |
Secondary abstract: |
Our thoughts and beliefs about ourselves, others, and the world shape our emotions and, consequently, our behaviour. When thoughts and beliefs are biased, false, inefficient, and distorted, we talk about maladaptive thinking patterns, which can significantly impact how we live. It makes sense to be aware of them and change them. The latter is also important for the working environment. The purpose of this study is to check the clinical validity of the previously newly developed Work-Related Maladaptive Thinking Patterns Questionnaire (WMTPQ), i.e. whether the questionnaire truly differentiates between general and clinical population in its results. The latter was checked through a survey including 64 participants (N-general population=32, N-clinical population=32). The clinical sample included individuals, who are currently working, but have a clinical diagnosis or symptoms that would indicate a work-related burnout. We also wanted to check, whether the work-related maladaptive thinking patterns are associated with burnout (MBI-GS), depression, anxiety, stress (DASS-21) and performance-based self-evaluation (PBSE), as the theory predicts. In the first step, our results showed adequacy of both patterns, as the clinical sample statistically significantly differs from the general population sample in all the measured variables. The study results further showed the clinical validity of the WMTPQ and a significant positive correlation between WMTPQ and burnout, depression, anxiety, stress, and performance-related self-evaluation. With the present study we conclude that the WMTPQ is a reliable and valid instrument for measuring work-related maladaptive thinking patterns. |
