Abstract

Secondary title: Microworlds in mathematics education
Secondary abstract: Mathematics is a school subject that is considered less popular and harder to learn. For this reason, teachers want to approach mathematics with different teaching approaches. One approach is the use of information and communication technology (ICT), which includes teaching with microworlds. Although the beginnings of microworlds date back to the 1980s, they have not become established in education. In the master thesis is described how to use microworlds in teaching. The role of the teacher and the importance of microworlds for students are highlighted. There is presented a microworld for teaching properties and transformations of functions in grammar schools. It describes how to implement the microworld in the classroom and thus learning through exploration.
