idejna zasnova prenove območja Jochmannovega mlina v Ajdovščini
Abstract

New Old Mill - Renovation design of the Jochmann's mill area in Ajdovščina |
Secondary abstract: |
The master’s thesis “New” old mill explores the possibility of restoring the life of an abandoned and dilapidated building of a once very modern mill, where the still-operating company of Mlinotest developed.
The project highlights the problems of the town of Ajdovščina. It opens up topics that have been forgotten or those that are not included in the development of the city due to rapid industrialization and rapid increase in the number of inhabitants. The problems are divided into two main sections, which deal with the closed and open spaces of the city and their program purpose.
The project of renovation of the old mill’s area critically responds to the identified problems and introduces innovative solutions, which revive the city, programmatically upgrade it, and at the same time follow the principles of sustainable development.
The project of the renovation is divided into two main segments. The first phase focuses on the architectural renovation and programmatic revitalization of the old mill building, which is one of the few preserved buildings of the city’s rich industrial heritage. The radical intervention in the mill once again emphasizes the importance of the main building, whose architecture is today completely degraded due to numerous extensions. By installing the public program, the mill is returned to the use of the townspeople, while at the same time its original purpose and the importance of milling or the food industry in the Vipava Valley is emphasized. And the second phase, answering the question of the establishment of a continuous green axis along the river Hubelj, it deals with the open space next to the mill building. With its design, it emphasizes the power of the river and the importance of green space in the city. |
