Secondary abstract: The study focuses on electricity consumption and energy efficiency in data centers. It presents the standards and infrastructure necessary to ensure reliable data center operations. Due to the emphasis on energy consumption efficiency, it further discusses the pact for climate-neutral data centers, green data centers, code of conduct for data centers, and the development of European standards for green public procurement. Next, it presents case studies and interview findings with the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, Post of Slovenia, Telemach, Jožef Stefan Institute, and Institute of Information Science regarding the electricity consumption of their data centers, analysis for designing a sustainable energy management strategy, and the awareness of data center managers regarding energy efficiency regulations.
