diplomsko delo - visokošolski strokovni študij
Abstract

Influence of climate conditions on moisture content of wood impregnated with montan and polyethylene wax water emulsions |
Secondary abstract: |
To improve durability of wood we protect it with different solutions. Nowadays, the importance of natural solutions is increasing. As biocidal treatment is less and less desired, there are newer, non-biocidal treatments developed that will limit the development of wood pests. In general, wood decay fungi do not degrade dry wood. To determine sorption properties, spruce and beech wood specimens were treated with montan, polyethylene, oxidized polyethylene wax emulsions. We studied how wax treated wood responds to the changes in moisture content and temperature. Therefore, the mass of the control and treated specimens were monitored weekly for 6 months. The results show that all the waxes have positive effects on sorption properties of beech wood, but we could not assure it for spruce wood. |
