Abstract

Suhe vzorce smo izpostavili 2 različnim relativnim zračnim vlažnostim in gravimetrično spremljali vlažnost in določali dimenzije vzorcev.

Secondary title: Mechanical and sorption properties of wood impregnated with ethanolamine
Secondary abstract: Ethanolamine is one of the most important chemicals used in wood and wood related industries. Ethanolamine is a component of wood preservatives that improves fixation of Cuč it is used in paper industry for pulping, and in restoration for patination, etc. Despite the fact, that ethanolamine has been used for decades, complete interactions between wood and ethanolamine have not yet been fully explained. It is known that it reacts with lignin and hemi-celluloseč therefore, this might affect mechanical and sorption properties. In order to determine how significant these changes are, the samples of spruce (Picea abies) and beech (Fagus sylvatica) were impregnated with 2 different concentrations of aqueous solution of ethanolamine, and conditioned according to 4 different methods. Afterwards, dried samples were exposed to 2 different relative humidities, and then moisture content and dimensions were determined. Compression strength was measured by a destructive method. The results show that the compression strength of the samples, impregnated with ethanolamine, increases. On the other hand, the equilibrium moisture content of the samples is often higher than that of the control ones.
