Secondary title: | Joints in structures made of stainless steel |
Secondary abstract: | The diploma thesis addresses the peculiarities of designing connections in structures made of stainless steel compared to carbon steel in accordance with Eurocode standards and changes in the upcoming new generation of standards. The lower carbon content in stainless steels compared to carbon steels provides them with greater ductility. This leads to a different stress-strain curve for stainless steel, which results in differences in design compared to carbon steels. The first part of the thesis introduces the physical and mechanical properties of stainless steels, which are influenced by added alloying elements and the microstructure of stainless steel, as well as the corrosion resistance of stainless steels. The second part presents the specificities of designing bolted and welded joints made of stainless steel according to SIST EN1993-1-4 and the pre-standard prEN1993-1-4. Finally, computational examples are provided. |
