Abstract

Izgubili so rutino rednih treningov in tekem.

Secondary title: Sports events during the COVID-19 epidemic - case study of football matches
Secondary abstract: Motivation is a crucial part of our everyday lives, and sports too, because it is our internal drive to reach our goals. In the context of the diploma, motivation is especially important, as athletes faced the interruption of training and matches. Most of the sports industry was interrupted due to Covid-19, which has had a big impact on the physical and mental conditions of the athletes. They lost the routine of regular training and matches. Research has shown that there was a decrease in physical condition, endurance and speed during the break. On the other hand, the risk of injuries has increased. In addition, there was less audience in the stadiums, which highly impacted the atmosphere of the matches and weakened the feeling of fan support. Lack of clear goals and an unpredictable future affected maintaining discipline and self-discipline. Despite all that, lots of players showed exceptional motivation and adaptability to given conditions. Some used the period to work on their fitness or to improve their technical skills, while others used the period to connect with their teammates and coaches remotely to keep the team as close as possible. The thesis research will contribute to a better understanding of the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic on motivation, and physical and psychological consequences for male and female players.
