tradicionalne osnove in kritika pozahodenja
Jana S. Rošker (Author)

Abstract

Članek poskuša bralstvu predočiti ontološke osnove tradicionalnega kitajskega dojemanja časa, ki ni linearno, temveč ciklično in hkrati tesno povezano s človeškim izkustvom. V tem kontekstu poda tudi primer radikalne kritike nereflektiranega prevzemanja modelov percepcije resničnosti, kakršni so prevladali v evropski in evro-ameriški tradiciji.

Secondary abstract: The article attempts to provide the reader with the ontological foundations of the traditional Chinese perception of time, which is not linear but cyclical, and at the same time closely linked to human experience. While the dynamics of linearity are unique at every moment of existence, the cyclical passage of time returns to its origin every time it reaches its extreme pole. Therefore, the universe was not created only once – it is constantly being created anew and is at the same time disappearing at every moment of its existence. In addition to the cyclical nature of the perception of time prevalent in Confucianism, Daoism and Buddhism, the author also presents a different conception of time as it evolved in the context of the development of a specifically Chinese logic. In the concluding part, the author discusses the problems of the confrontation between Western and Chinese perceptions of time that arose in the process of China’s colonisation. In this context, she also gives an example of a radical criticism of the non-reflective adoption of reality perception models as became prevalent in the European and Euro-American traditions. This radical criticism found its earliest expression in the philosophical works of the Chinese anarchist movement 22 in the early 20th century. In this context, it becomes clear that the criticism of a Westernised understanding of time was also an implicit negation of Western-style modernisation.
