Abstract

Podatke smo pridobili s pomočjo delno strukturiranega intervjuja.

Secondary title: The role of extracurricular activities in the integration of immigrant children into the school and wider social environment
Secondary abstract: The main purpose of this master's thesis is to find out the role that extracurricular activities play in the integration of immigrant pupils from Ukraine into the school and wider social environment and on their school performance. In the theoretical part, we focus on the social exclusion and inclusion of immigrant pupils and the role of interest activities in the integration of immigrant pupils into the society. The empirical part of the master's thesis is based on a qualitative research, in which pupils from the 2nd to the 7th grade of four primary schools in Zasavje region and three primary schools in the Dravinja valley and its surroundings were involved. We obtained the data with the help of semi-structured interviews. Interviewed pupils chose extracurricular activities that are not organised by school the most frequently within which sports activities were dominated. Self-interest was their primary reason for joining the activities as well as their own interest and encouraging environment contribute positively to their school performance. We conclude that extracurricular activities play a large role in the expansion of the social network for interviewed children, while school is the central place of their socialization and integration into society. Especially their home class, where they spend the most of their time and where they have the largest circle of friends.
