pogovorne zvrsti na javni prireditvi
Abstract

The public entertainment event Viktorji 2006, which receives a great deal of media attention, was from a linguistic point of view special with regard to the choice of language varieties. It was very noticeable that the standard language was almost entirely absent from the Cankarjev dom stage. In discussions among colleagues the following day it was frequently said that the use of various regional and dialect variants, which almost displaced the standard language, was extremely disturbing, while others saw it merely as a sign of spontaneity and a final rearrangement of language varieties in live use of spoken language.
Dialects and regional variants are often a part of acted sketches during entertainment (television) events, enlivening individual parts of programmes, thus fulfilling a stylistic function that through the choice of non-standard dialogues and monologues indicate the creator’s regional origin and conceal within it topical political barbs and humorous inserts. However, the event in question changed this format. The article presents an analysis of Viktorji 2006, with which we will try to ascertain: 1) the role of regional variants and 2) the consequences of the use of public speech in the media for the theoretical/didactic models of Slovene linguistics. |
