Abstract

Obiskovanje galerij in muzejev ni bilo vseskozi dostopno vsem ljudem, temveč je bilo v preteklosti privilegij predvsem višjih družbenih slojev, likovna umetnost pa je večkrat predstavljala le sredstvo za doseganje družbene in vzgojne moči. Vloga likovne umetnosti in odnos do nje se je skozi čas spreminjal. Novejše študije so pokazale, da ljudje, predvsem odrasli posamezniki, zavračajo sodobno likovno umetnost, medtem ko so mladi bolj odprti do sodobnih interpretacij likovne umetnosti.

Secondary title: The modern gallery visitor's acceptance and perception of fine art
Secondary abstract: Visiting galleries and museums was not always possible for everyone; in the past, it was a privilege reserved for the upper social classes. Fine art, however, was frequently used solely for achieving social and educational status. The role of fine art and public perception of it have evolved over time. Recent research has revealed that people, particularly adults, reject modern fine art, whereas young people are more open to modern interpretations of fine art. The master's thesis expands on the research on contemporary gallery visitors' attitudes towards fine art, identifying the factors that influence the development of the considered attitude. The analysis was conducted using secondary data analysis, focus groups with primary and secondary school teachers, and interviews with representatives of Slovenian galleries. The findings demonstrate the rejection of contemporary fine art and the unformed attitude towards fine art, which is primarily attributable to the effects of family socialisation and the educational process.
