diplomsko delo
Abstract

Project work in the kindergarten: Discovering volcanoes |
Secondary abstract: |
Project work is an alternative method of working in education, where children shift from a passive to an active role. The purpose of the diploma thesis is to evaluate the success of the planned project on volcanoes. Twenty-one children aged five to six were involved in a six-day project in a kindergarten, where they were encouraged to actively participate through various activities; their background knowledge was tested and their knowledge about volcanoes was finally assessed. Based on the obtained results, we concluded that we had developed project work with an active role of the children, following what we had distilled from literature. We noticed that children were more willing to participate in the activities if they could, for example, make a model of a volcano and carry out the experiment themselves. They were significantly better able to compare the experiment with a real natural phenomenon. They gained a lot of new knowledge, such as when a glowing hot liquid is called magma or lava, what to do in case of a volcanic eruption, as shown by the results at the end of the project. The children remembered the project long after it had been carried out, which can be considered a success. |
