Abstract

V prvem delu smo izvedli simulacijo s katero smo preverili točnost sistema. V drugem delu smo spreminjali razmerje trdnih komunalnih odpadkov in lesne biomase na vtoku v proizvodnjo. Ugotovili smo, da so trdni komunalni odpadki in lesna biomasa bolj donosni kot zemeljski plin. Na sintezno pozitivno vpliva večja količina trnih komunalnih odpadkov in manjša količina vodne pare.

Secondary title: Comparison between actual and simulated catalytic syngas production
Secondary abstract: Electricity consumption is increasing exponentially due to a growing population, expanding industry and accelerating economic growth. Most electricity is still generated from non-renewable energy sources, mainly fossil fuels, and more and more waste is accumulating in landfills, in nature and in the sea, which is not or cannot be recycled. Producing synthetic gas from municipal solid waste would help to produce energy that would at least partly help to preserve the environment. The aim of the Master's theses was to simulate the production of syngas with the Aspen Plus computer program at different feedstock compositions and to compare the simulated production with the actual production of syngas, which is a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide. In the first part, we performed a simulation to verify the accuracy of the system using data obtained from industry. In the second part, the simulation was extended to the whole methanol production. We varied the ratio of municipal solid waste and woody biomass at the inlet of the plant, observing the variation of the amount of methanol, water, carbon and hydrogen produced at the outlets. We have found that municipal solid waste and wood are more profitable than natural gas. Synthesis is positively affected by the higher amount of municipal solid waste and the lower amount of water vapor.
