Abstract

Magistrsko delo predstavlja projekt revitalizacije nekdanje Remize v Novi Gorici.

Secondary title: Revitalising the Nova Gorica ex locomotive depot - a conceptual design
Secondary abstract: The Master’s thesis presents the project of revitalization of the former locomotive depot in Nova Gorica. The forgotten building, which has stood on this site for more than a century and is placed on the list of cultural heritage, is hidden behind the superficial rennovation and its importance is currently being neglected. A combination of circumstances and other factors brought the building to the point where no one remembers it anymore. The renovation served only for the basic needs of protection against climatic phenomena, and the Dipo furniture store lives in it like a parasite, eating it from the inside. Passers-by and visitors of the shopping complex no longer notice the depot, as its cultural and historical significance was devalued with the renovation. In summary, the building underwent a transformation amidst pre-renovation controversies, with public discontent fading after the completion of the refurbishment. Despite the apparent acceptance, questions linger about the thoroughness of the renovation. This leads to a crucial inquiry: is the building currently realizing its full potential, or does it hold untapped possibilities? This thesis aims to explore and answer these lingering questions surrounding the renovation’s impact and the building’s present and potential contributions.
