diplomsko delo visokošolskega študijskega programa Informacijska varnost
Abstract

Comparison of the career paths of police officers and soldiers in the Republic of Slovenia |
Secondary abstract: |
Policeman and soldier professions are interesting because of the uniform, carrying weapons and their authority. Differences are in terms of mission, tasks, jurisdictions, responsibilities and authority. The thesis examined, the similarities, differences and specificities of the career path of a policeman and a soldier were determined from employment to retirement.
This was based on the legal-formal framework of the Police and the Slovenian Armed Forces, the conditions and procedures for recruitment of police officers and soldiers, their authority and responsibilities, the career system, the promotion system, the salary system, a comparison of the basic salary and the type of allowances that police officers and soldiers may receive depending on the specific conditions of their work, and a presentation of the conditions for their professional and retirement.
It is noted that the conditions for the employment of a police officer are more demanding and that, a police officer has more authority in terms of types and number than a soldier while only a military police officer has authorizations. In addition to the performance of tasks of a police officer at workplaces or a soldier at formation duties, which require different levels of education, the financial valuation of the work of a police officer and a soldier is not comparable. However, both police officers and soldiers have a guaranteed career path and comparable retirement conditions. After retirement, a police officer has the option to sign a contract for voluntary service in the auxiliary police, and a soldier in the reserve of the Slovenian Army. |
