Abstract

Najpogostejši vir informacij so medicinske sestre, sledijo jim ginekologi. V perikoncepcijskem obdobju, kljub načrtovanju nosečnosti, premalo žensk dodaja folno kislino, zato je ključno pravočasno informiranje vseh žensk, predvsem v rodni dobi. Poleg tega večina intervjuvank namerava nadaljevati s prehranskim dopolnilom folne kisline skozi celotno nosečnost in potem še v času dojenja. Razprava: Ugotovitve raziskave prispevajo k razumevanju pomena folne kisline v nosečnosti.

Secondary title: FOLIC ACID IN THE DIET OF PREGNANT WOMEN
Secondary abstract: Background: Folic acid is especially important before and during pregnancy, as it enables the proper development of the fetus. In the form of nutritional supplements, it is recommended for all women of childbearing age. It would be best if you started taking the nutritional supplement 3 months before conception. If the pregnant wo man did not take supplements before becoming pregnant, she should make sure that she starts taking them as soon as she finds out about the pregnancy. Methods: We used a qualitative method of research and a descriptive method of work. As an instrument for data collection, we created a template for a semi-structured interview. We analyzed the collected data, classified the answers into tables, wrote down codes and interpreted them, and recorded the findings in the discussion and conclusion. Results: We found that most interviewees know the importance of taking folic acid, the recommended daily dose and the consequences of its deficiency. Nurses are the most common source of information, followed by gynecologists. In the periconceptional period, despite planning a pregnancy, not enough women add folic acid, so it is crucial to inform all women in a timely manner, especially in the childbearing age. In addition, most interviewees plan to continue taking folic acid supplements throughout pregnancy and then during breastfeeding. Discussion: The research findings contribute to the understanding of the importance of folic acid in pregnancy. We suggest further research in the field of folic acid in the diet of pregnant women, as this could reduce the number of birth defects - neural tube defects that are the result of a lack of this vitamin. We see opportunities for further research work in an expanded and in-depth study of the understanding and use of folic acid among pregnant women as a dietary supplement.
