Secondary abstract:	In the thesis we discuss Google App Engine (GAE) platform, which represents a platform as a service (PaaS). It is a service model of cloud computing, which enables development and deployment web applications on the same scalable systems that power Google applications. Platform GAE enables developers to develop and host web applications without the costs associated with the investments and management of the server infrastructure. GAE platform solves the problem of congestion in the existing system and achieves better utilization of computing resources compared to the traditional web applications development. With App Engine, we only pay for what we use. There are no set-up costs and no recurring fees. We only pay the actual consumption of processor cycles, bandwidth, operations on the database and storage used by web application. It is a better value for money compared to investing in additional hardware and software required for traditional web application development. To understand how application works on App Engine the thesis part of cloud computing introduces and describes architecture and structure of Google App Engine platform. Development and hosting of web applications are different from traditional kind, so we presented advantages and disadvantages of both ways. Because we wanted to examine GAE platform in practice we developed web application, which combines the supply chain management. The successful implementation of web application shows performance and the way how to develop web application in the environment designed for developing applications on Google App Engine platform.
