Secondary abstract:	The thesis describes the development procedure of a mobile application for the Android platform. The application enables you to scan barcodes of products. If a product exist in the database, the application enables the user to rate and comment the product, if not the application creates a new entry into the product database. The application uses the camera on the phone to capture an image of the products barcode, which is then analysed by the applications integrated Googles Barcode Scanner. The result of the analysis is a numeric representation of the barcode. All data is stored in a MySQL database on a web server with which we communicate by HTTP request. The main topic of the thesis is to explain how the QR scanner works as well as how the communication with the web server.
