diplomsko delo

Abstract

Secondary title: The use of the strategic mathematical game Mancala in the preschool period
Secondary abstract: In the theoretical part, the thesis first presents how important it is in early childhood encourage children to explore mathematical concepts in a way that is consistent with their own natural way of learning through play. It points out that games like Mancala are an effective tool to develop basic math skills such as counting, pattern recognition and understanding of quantities, and to strengthen strategic thinking. The empirical part of the study focused on the systematic introduction of the mathematical game Mancala in a kindergarten setting, specifically with a group of children aged five to six years. The aim of the research was to determine to what extent the children understood the rules of the game, how often they engaged with it, and how the game influenced their interest in mathematics. During the activities, the children showed a high level of interest in the game, which was reflected in their desire to play independently and explore the game's rules.
