Abstract

Bolniki z rakom pogosto trpijo zaradi tesnobe in depresije.

Secondary abstract: Cancer patients often suffer from anxiety and depression. Music therapy can be used as a non-pharmacological method to relieve these. The use of music in cancer treatment can be implemented as part of health care services. Based on a review of the literature, the purpose of the final work is to investigate the effectiveness of the impact of music therapy on the mental health of an adult cancer patient. In the final part, we used a descriptive method of work. The final work is based on a review of the scientific literature, for its search we used foreign databases: PubMed, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, ScienceDirect. The course of literature search was presented with a PRISMA diagram, and the analysis and synthesis of the collected data was presented in an evaluation and synthesis table. In the final analysis we included eight articles. We found out that the implementation of music therapy can have a positive effect on the mental health of an oncological patient. It was reported to have affected the reduction of feelings of anxiety, stress, sadness. Patients felt more satisfied, cheerful. However, with some patients their condition did not improve. Music therapy can have a positive impact on the mental health of cancer patients, it is an easy and safe method to reduce anxiety and depression. The use of evidence-based music is aimed at meeting the physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of cancer patients.
