Abstract

Secondary title: The impact of the war in Ukraine on the global wheat and natural gas market: challenges and implications
Secondary abstract: This thesis analyses the impact of the war in Ukraine on the global wheat and natural gas markets. The focus is on the consequences the war has had on these two crucial markets and possible solutions for stabilizing supply. The study found that the war significantly disrupted the global wheat supply, as Ukraine is one of the world's largest wheat exporters. The destruction of infrastructure and blockade of ports led to a drastic reduction in Ukrainian wheat exports, causing a surge in global prices. Similarly, the war affected the natural gas market by disrupting supplies from Russia to Europe, prompting the search for alternative energy sources. Proposed solutions include diversifying suppliers, increasing storage capacities, and promoting renewable energy sources, all of which could contribute to greater stability in these markets in the future.
