Abstract
V okviru diplomskega dela sem poskušala pripraviti nove koordinacijske spojine cinka(II) z metronidazolom. Metronidazol je derivat imidazola, v katerem je na en dušikov atom vezana skupina –CH$_2$CH$_2$OH, na ogljik (na položaju 2) v obroču je vezana metilna skupina, na ogljik (na položaju 5) v obroču pa je vezana nitro skupina. Običajno se metronidazol na kovine prehoda veže preko obročnega dušikovega atoma. Z metronidazolom sem reagirala različne spojine cinka(II): cinkov(II) acetat dihidrat, cinkov(II) klorid in cinkov(II) kinaldinat [Zn(quin)$_2$(H$_2$O)]. Reakcije so bile izvedene pri sobni temperaturi, segrevanju pri pogojih refluksa in v avtoklavu pri 105 °C. Iz cinkovega(II) acetata sem pridobila novo klaster spojino, [Zn$_7$O$_2$(OOCCH$_3$)$_{10}$(met)$_2$]·2CH$_3$CN. Ta je nastala pri vseh reakcijskih pogojih. Menjava acetonitrila s propionitrilom daje analogno spojino, [Zn$_7$O$_2$(OOCCH$_3$)$_{10}$(met)$_2$]·2CH$_3$CH$_2$CN. Iz cinkovega(II) klorida je bila izolirana že znana enojedrna spojina, [ZnCl$_2$(met)$_2$]. Sinteza koordinacijske spojine, ki bi vsebovala tako kinaldinatni ion kot metronidazol, ni uspela.

Coordination compounds of zinc(II) with metronidazole |

Within the diploma work, we attempted to prepare new coordination compounds of zinc(II) with metronidazole. Metronidazole is an imidazole derivative with the CH$_2$CH$_2$OH moiety bound to one nitrogen atom, the methyl moiety at position 2 in the ring and a nitro functional group at position 5. Metronidazole usually coordinates to transition metal ions via ring nitrogen atom. Different zinc(II) compounds were reacted with metronidazole: zinc(II) acetate dihydrate, zinc(II) chloride and zinc(II) quinaldinate [Zn(quin)$_2$(H$_2$O)]. The reactions were carried out at ambient conditions, heating under reflux or heating at 105 °C in the autoclaves. Zinc(II) acetate afforded a novel cluster compound with the [Zn$_7$O$_2$(OOCCH$_3$)$_{10}$(met)$_2$]·2CH$_3$CN composition. The cluster formed at all reaction conditions. The replacement of acetonitrile with propionitrile afforded an analogous compound, [Zn$_7$O$_2$(OOCCH$_3$)$_{10}$(met)$_2$]·2CH$_3$CH$_2$CN. Zinc(II) chloride produced an already known mononuclear compound, [ZnCl$_2$(met)$_2$]. The synthesis of a zinc(II) coordination compound with both ligands, metronidazole and quinaldinate, was not met with success. |
