Abstract

Skozi glasbeno zgodovino je prevzemala različne vloge vse do 19. stoletja, ko so jo nadomestili drugi inštrumenti.

Secondary title: Performance Practice of Contemporary Repertoire for the Recorder
Secondary abstract: The recorder was present in music since the Middle Ages. This instrument embodied different roles throughout music history up until 19th century when it was replaced by other instruments. At the beginning of 20th century, the recorder and historical music were rediscovered, which led to redefining the role of this instrument in contemporary music. In this master's thesis we focus on performance practice of contemporary repertoire for the recorder. Modern techniques play an imporant part in contemporary performance practice as they serve to develop and experiment with standard ways of playing on the instrument. Various modern techniques present possibilities of innovative interpretation of modern pieces for the recorder. We can find many modern techniques in contemporary repertoire for this instrument. Three modern works for the recorder were chosen for this master's thesis. We analysed various modern techniques, their symbols and notation, and their instructions for playing. We compared our findings across all three works to find differences and similarities. We also analysed these modern techniques in the context of interpretation of the work or its individual parts. We conclude by mentioning some of the possibilities of implementing modern techniques in a classroom.
