Abstract

Drugi del razlaga načine kronološke delitve fortifikacij Avstrije in kasneje Avstro-Ogrske in geografsko delitev. To so zapore: Bovec, Sexten, Landro - Plätzwiese, Buchenstein – Tre Sassi, Buso, Tenna, Folgaria – Lavarone, Lardaro, Tona

Secondary abstract: This diploma thesis describes the permanent fortifications built on the Italian front, their structure, armament and function during the beginning of military operations on the front. It is divided in three parts. The first gives a brief description of the evolution of fortifications during the 19th century with the advancements in artillery such as the high explosive shell and rifling, and construction materials such as armoured concrete. The second explains the different chronological separations of forts built by Austria and later Austria-Hungary in the area and divides them geographically. It also describes the Austro-Hungarian plan of action for potential hostilities with Italy and explains why the Trento region was given priority with the construction of forts and why none were built on the Isonzo front. It also mentions the funds that the monarchy invested in the fortification of the area. The third part of the thesis describes forty fortifications built in the area between 1860 and 1915 constructed ne
