Abstract
Visokošolsko izobraževanje ima ključno vlogo pri oblikovanju kulturnega, gospodarskega in vsesplošnega razvoja države. Kariera visokošolske učiteljice je poleg akademskih zahtev odvisna tudi od širših družbenih dejavnikov. Vpliv družine na kariero visokošolske učiteljice je večplasten in lahko prinaša tako izzive kot priložnosti. Magistrsko delo obravnava izzive usklajevanja družinskega in poklicnega življenja visokošolskih učiteljic. Glavni cilj raziskave je bil preučiti, kako družinske obveznosti vplivajo na karierno pot visokošolskih učiteljic. Pri raziskavi smo uporabljali koncept družine z vidika starševstva. V raziskavo so bile vključene visokošolske učiteljice z nazivom docentka, izredna profesorica in redna profesorica na Univerzi v Ljubljani, Univerzi v Mariboru in Univerzi na Primorskem. Teoretični del naloge opredeljuje ključne pojme, kot so družina, kariera, visokošolsko okolje in ovire za ženske na akademski poti na osnovi deskriptivne metode. Empirični del temelji na podatkih, pridobljenih s kvantitativno metodo, in vključuje analizo anketnega vprašalnika, ki ga je izpolnilo 158 visokošolskih učiteljic. Rezultati raziskave kažejo, da je usklajevanje dela in družine za visokošolske učiteljice zahtevno, še posebej zaradi obsežnih delovnih obveznosti, kot so raziskovalno delo, poučevanje in administrativna opravila. Ugotovljeno je bilo, da družinske obveznosti lahko omejujejo možnosti napredovanja v višje habilitacijske nazive, zlasti pri učiteljicah z mlajšimi otroki. Med ključnimi ovirami so pomanjkanje institucionalne podpore, neredni delovni urniki in visoka pričakovanja glede znanstvene produktivnosti

Higher education plays a key role in shaping the cultural, economic, and overall development of a country. The career of a female higher education teacher is influenced not only by academic requirements but also by broader social factors. The impact of family on their careers is multifaceted, presenting both challenges and opportunities. This master's thesis explores the difficulties of balancing family and professional life among female higher education teachers. The primary aim of the research was to examine how family obligations affect their career paths. The study adopts the concept of family from the perspective of parenthood. The research included female higher education teachers holding the titles of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Full Professor at the University of Ljubljana, the University of Maribor, and the University of Primorska. The theoretical part defines key concepts such as family, career, academic environment, and barriers for women in academia, using a descriptive method. The empirical part is based on data obtained through a quantitative method, including an analysis of a survey completed by 158 female higher education teachers. The results indicate that balancing work and family is particularly challenging for female higher education teachers due to extensive professional responsibilities, including research, teaching, and administrative tasks. The findings suggest that family obligations may limit opportunities for promotion to higher academic ranks, especially for those with young children. Key barriers include a lack of institutional support, irregular work schedules, and high expectations regarding research productivity |
