magistrsko delo
Abstract

Challenges of including children with selecitve mutism in the educational process - a case study |
| Secondary abstract: |
The master's thesis discusses the challenges of integrating children with selective mutism into the educational process. The theoretical part presents selective mutism as an anxiety disorder characterized by the inability to speak in certain social environments, despite the child speaking normally in a safe domestic environment. The causes, stages, and treatment methods of the disorder are analysed, with particular emphasis on the importance of early recognition, timely intervention, and the individualization of the learning process. The empirical part is based on a case study method, which follows three girls with selective mutism over the course of a school year and includes interviews with professionals working with them. The findings show that with appropriate support, a child can gradually develop verbal communication and successfully integrate into a group. The importance of collaboration between parents, teachers, and specialists is emphasized, as well as the need for a gradual approach, a safe environment, and individualized support. The master’s thesis contributes to the understanding of this complex disorder and offers practice-oriented guidelines based on concrete cases, theoretical foundations, and experience of professional workers. |
