magistrska naloga
Abstract

Slovenian guitar didactic literature |
| Secondary abstract: |
Didactic literature plays a crucial role in the process of music education, as it enables students to acquire technical, interpretive, and theoretical knowledge in a systematic and progressive way. Although the guitar is one of the most popular and widespread musical instruments in Slovenia, both among amateur and professional musicians, Slovenian didactic literature for guitar remains rather underexplored in academic research. This master's thesis therefore aims to examine the development, content characteristics, and methodological approaches of Slovenian guitar textbooks and manuals from 1925 to the present. The theoretical part provides a historical overview of the guitar's presence in Slovenia and a comparative insight into the global evolution of didactic materials for the instrument. The core of the thesis offers a chronological analysis of major publications by Slovenian authors—from Adolf Gröbming’s early instructional books, through influential works by Stanko Prek, Stane Kranjc, Jože Turšič, Karel Hladky, and Tomaž Šegula, to more recent publications such as the Kitarski UM series by Uroš Usenik and Mladen Bucić. The analysis focuses on technical complexity, structural design, didactic methods, and their relevance to both formal and informal teaching environments. A significant emphasis is placed on the distinction between formal didactic literature, published by educational institutions, and informal materials created in response to learners’ needs beyond institutional contexts. The thesis also discusses creative and interdisciplinary manuals that encourage musical imagination, independence, and a holistic understanding of musical language. In its final section, the thesis identifies current challenges and development opportunities for Slovenian guitar pedagogy. It concludes that despite a rich and diverse body of didactic works, there is a lack of comprehensive evaluation and systematic review. This research opens the way for further studies that could enhance the quality, standardization, and creativity of educational resources used in guitar instruction in Slovenia. |
